XL Carp Syndicate Blog Episode 8 Aug 19 w/Adam Penning.
Welcome back for The Fryerning Fisheries XL Carp Blog Episode 8. As always the episode is packed full of carp and all the goings on at this very special Carp syndicate here in Essex, so keep watching to see a bumper two months work of big stunning carp, Smashed P.B.s and smiling happy anglers!
Year on year I still can’t fail to be amazed at just how quiet the banks at Fryerning carp syndicate become during and immediately after the School holiday period of August and September. It seems like most people go away on the family holidays, get into barbecues and forget all about fishing. Which is great for those who don’t! You would think that with a great reduction of anglers fishing the catch reports would show a decrease in the last few months bonanzas in terms of carp captures but this is certainly not the case The Lakes are still in red hot form!
As part of the rules at Fryerning carp syndicate, every carp over 20lb has to be logged in the catch report book, found outside the Lodge. This gives both the team and members alike a chance to study exactly what is going on. (check it out on the website). Looking through August it makes scary reading with over 64 carp out of The Main Lake alone …. crazy crazy stuff! One thing is for certain like a fine Red Wine, Fryerning just keeps improving with time.
The first week of the month saw one of, if not the biggest leathers (at the right time) in the country banked The Netted Fish, smashing Paul Bryants P.B. in style. Paul landed this mighty fish at just over 40lb but like all these fish at Fryerning this will be back up near its top weight April/May time which is a massive 50lb 2oz.

This top top result was followed by a man who features regularly in these blogs Steve Falco. Steve ticked another three off his list, landing The Dalmation and Charlie at 29lb 14oz and 35lb, followed a week later by The Emperor at 41lb.

The Bertram family also appear regularly in the blogs and this month is no different, with all three enjoying a productive trip landing carp of 22lb, 24lb and 33lb.

Making full use of some ‘in-between jobs’ time, A return visit towards the end of the month saw Elliot land a great haul from the end swim. Elliot landed The Whinger at 40lb 11oz, Lukes Common at 35lb 14oz, two other commons of 25lb 8oz and 24lb 8oz and a pretty mirror of 20lb 15oz!

The Main Lake has always had a well-deserved reputation for ‘the place’ for Big English carp, but it is also now becoming well know across the UK as a carp syndicate lake for big hits of big carp, if you get on them the angling can easily eclipse action found overseas.
One man who experienced one of these dream sessions, was the incredibly consistent Tommy Flower, a man who just seems to catch whenever he comes. Tommy landed seven carp including five of the A-Team, these were The Netted fish 42lb, Berties Lin 38lb 8oz, No Name 36lb, Charlie 35lb 8oz, A 31lb grassy, a 30lb 12oz mirror and a 26lb 8oz mirror.

Simon Davie’s return from sea, saw him moor up in the box for a couple of nights landing six carp up to 28lb, whilst Jim Buffoonie landed seven on a hectic session including Charlies Mate at 37lb 2oz!

The Edmunds family were absolutely delighted when they got their Fryerning tickets and on the first session on The Main Lake landed four carp between them With Alan landing a couple of P.B.s with The Nunn at 41lb being one, whilst Will landed The Zip Lin at 35lb and Dad David bagging a 31lb Mirror.

Some other notable captures include Andy Cox with XL Pecs, The Stripe and The Nunn, Ryan Woodland with Whinger at 40lb 5oz and the ever jovial Kevin Deeming with 4 scale at 35lb 2oz.

Prize for the most dedicated syndicate members must surely go to the Lancashire Carp Baits crew who make a 520 mile round trip from Blackpool to fish there favourite syndicate, The Main Lake! Jamie Wilding who travelled along with Alan and Tia made the trip well worthwhile when he landed The Stripe at over 30lb as well as several smaller samples on the companies K9 Roubignoles! A big well done chaps and a fine testament to the venue if members are travelling this far to fish Fryerning.

As always we have too many fish to mention in August so here are a few more whackers to feast your eyes on!
Moving on to the Valley Lake’s and things down there were equally impressive, with over 20 carp over 20lb gracing the banks from The Valley Lake alone, not to mention a cracking 26lb 2oz common from the Car Park Lake for Mark Filby, along with a 21lb Mirror.
Angling buddies Josh Hefford and Kane Sutton certainly seem to have the knack of getting among The Valley Lake residents and August was no different, with the pair landing some amazing carp.

Kane did especially well, landing fish of 30lb 8oz, 27lb 10oz, 24lb 2oz, 22lb 29lb and The Carrot at 23lb 2oz whilst Josh had this wicked looking 23lb 2oz mirror.

Just one of the perks of being a member at Fryerning is your ticket allows you access to all three carp syndicate Lakes and members Albert and Trevor Saunders love nothing better to mix it up, having a go on them all.
Albert will be the first to tell you he hasn’t been all that successful on The Valley previously, but this all changed when he landed two carp including a cracking 30lb 2oz Mirror, whilst son Trevor weighed in with a 27lb Mirror.

Mark and Fin Richardsons incredible consistency has been noted by many and is certainly talk on The Syndicate. August saw them add another three too there tally with three banging commons of 24lb 8oz, 25lb 12oz and this 28lb new P.B.!

Moving through to September and the weather made a definite change which saw fish numbers caught back to more sensible levels! As already mentioned, this can also be put down to the lack of anglers fishing, a trend in carp fishing these days a lot of anglers wrap their gear up after August.
Yet again some familiar faces feature in The Catch Report Book and some names from old. Barry Byson kicked off the action with an unknown Chunky Common of nearly 25lb whilst Gary Bennet landed 30lb Mirror.
What a fish for Barry Byson!
Another angler who has been a member for quite some time now is Jason Loveday, an angler who doesn’t get down to fish a lot, so his capture of The Gambler at 39lb was even more special.

Tommy Flower’s guest John Fulbrook ended up having a session he won’t forget in a hurry, notching up a new P.B. with XL Pecks at 41lb and also bagging himself a fine 24lb Common. Tommy, sat next to him, landed a brace of stunning mid-twenty commons, a top result considering the pair of them were fishing for less than 24 hours!
A delighted John Fulbrook with XL Pecs at 41lb
Simon Davey and Elliot Bertram have been at it again banking over twenty fish between them with Simon’s best being Berties Linear at 39lb 15oz, Whilst Elliots’s pick of the bunch was The Dalmatian.
Towards the end of the month, Elliot bit the bullet and actually went home for a couple of days returning to land a further 13 carp to over 43lb, check out next months vlog for the full story!
Over on The Valley Lake and York Stevens kicked off the month in style landing a cracking 35lb P.B. mirror, and interestingly it wasn’t one of the 40’s so keep an eye on this fish, a sure 40 in the near future.

Incredibly just days later Chris Rutt landed another belting common, a 35lb 12oz unit backed up with one of 28lb 2oz.

Connor Ward is an angler who always seems to get among the fish on The Valley Lake, with his latest session seeing him land three carp, A fantastic looking 24lb 8oz mirror and a 23lb common being the best of the bunch.

Cody McMahon has been fishing The Valley Lake for some years now and has built up an encyclopaedia like knowledge of the Lake and landing many of its famed stock in this time. A rare 36-hour session this month saw him add this awesome common to The Album. Nice one Cody!

Finally, for the Valley we have this belter for Dan O’Callaghan and a new 30 for The valley.
Dean and Cooper O’Callaghan with a 31lb Valley Lake common.
The 31lb common, a new P.B. was shared in a session with his young son Cooper which made it all the more sweeter! Both father and son had a great time all round! We welcome families fishing together at Fryerning carp syndicate!
On to The Car Park and plenty of rods continue to be bent and yet more 20’s have come out. a couple of weeks before upping his P.B. on The Valley, Dan actually went on The Car Park and landed this beautiful 20lb 2oz Koi, a perfect example of what a bit of confidence can do!
What a cracker for Dan O’Callaghan 20lb 2oz
Carl McCarthy and Dan Haselton also shared an action-packed day session on The Car Park with the pair landing some awesome fish topped with this 20lb 2oz mirror for Carl.

I’m sure you will agree the fish which you have seen are some of the best your likely to ever see and with such pedigree, these fish are obviously much sought after and very much in demand.
Being successful fish farmers Fryerning generate plenty of these like these … every year. They have proven heritage and all are unique with scaley mirrors to chunky commons, these have them all!
If you are after some of these fabulous carp get in touch as soon as to avoid disappointment.
Along with these Beauties, Fryerning carp syndicate also hasTench, Catfish and Roach for sale, once again either give the guys an email or a ring for more details.
Throughout the past couple of months, the team haven’t stopped, undertaking several major jobs as well as the usual maintenance!
Those of you who have been down cant have failed to notice all the work around the Lodge which will not only improve the looks of the area but also stop water entering it during the wetter months.
You may have also noticed a few issues with the water lately, well this is currently being resolved having invested over 16k on a state of the art filtration system, water storage tanks, pumps and all the infrastructure that goes with it. This will ensure the finest drinking water 100% of the time in the future and we would like to say thanks for bearing with us whilst this work has been going on.
The Main Lake’s log swim has also had a major refurb its been increased in size, had some granite steps added and been landscaped turning into one of the comfiest swims around come rain or shine. The swims currently closed but will be re-open once all the grass has grown back.
The Log Swim has been refurbished during September.
Looking ahead, it’s worth noting that as we are approaching the change of British Summertime hours the gate times change to last in out 6 pm. Also, the use of your own nets skings will come into place soon, so keep an eye on the website, facebook and twitter for further details.
One last thing before we call this a wrap, I couldn’t possibly finish this episode without mentioning the skull Chris has had commissioned. Carved from granite and placed on a plant next to The Car Park Lake, this work of art has taken over three years to complete. I really suggest if you’re down you take a look. It’s touches like this that make us a carp syndicate worth talking about!
Check this out if you’re down!
