Fryerning XL Essex Big Carp Syndicate Monthly Blog April Episode 5

Its time for Episode 5 of The Fryerning XL Carp monthly blog, with Adam Penning and have we got a treat for you! Increased water temperatures saw the carp feed with a vengeance resulting in record numbers of fish gracing the banks on all three lakes. Featuring Countless P.B.s, Mirror's to nearly 54lb, 40's, 30's and 20's plus one of the largest braces of carp ever caught in The UK, you can't fail to be impressed with Episode 5.

It’s amazing how much the Fryerning complex has changed in just one month. Trees are now full of leaves and blossom, the lilies are starting to surface and the reed beds are becoming greener and denser by the day. In the background, you can hear the call of a cuckoo and all these things signal one thing to the angler, plenty of big carp!

This has certainly been the case over the last month with record numbers of carp coming out of all the lakes. Just flicking through the catch reports confirms this! The Main Lake last April produced 17 carp, whilst this April over 50 carp have entered the catch report book and they are not small carp either, look for yourself!!!

Most Lakes couldn’t boast captures like this in a year let alone a month, but Fryerning does!

The Car Park and Valley Lakes have also seen an increase in fish recorded, with some stunning fish coming through which is great news, but more of that in a bit.

Starting off on The Main Lake it is really pleasing to see some of our own fish we stocked a couple of years ago coming through. Many of these are now topping 30lb and are sup-lamenting the original stock and our A-Team carp perfectly.

Eleven anglers have smashed their P.B.s this month at Fryerning which just goes to show what incredible stocks the complex boasts. Seven of these have come from The Main Lake and each one has been a very special moment for the anglers involved, without a doubt.

Chris Rutt’s capture of The Nunn was probably the highlight of these when he landed The Nunn at a belting weight of 49lb 4oz. Chris has been a member now for quite some time and it was great to see him rewarded for his loyalty and efforts over the years.

John Basilli was another angler to do the business, upping his P.B. with the immaculate Zip Linear at 39lb. John also bagged an immaculate common of 22lb making it a very memorable session indeed.

Another angler living the Fryerning dream this month was Andrew Smith.

In one magical session, he had the pleasure of landing The Dalmation and Charlie at 39lb, a new P.B. Delighted doesn’t go near to describing him after landing two of the most sought after A-Team members!

Scott Saunders was also boasting a huge smile when he smashed his P.B. with 4scale at a terrific weight 42lb. Scott was pleased as punch with his first UK 40, the perfect present for his 40th birthday!

Dan Hasselton’s rarely seen on the bank, but he did manage to sneak a few days fishing in this month. Dan made the most of this time, bagging himself a cracking brace of mid 30’s including a new P.B. common of 35lb 14oz. Well done that man!!!

Matt Naylor managed to catch a rare visitor to the bank when he landed a cracking 33lb P.B. grass carp. A tremendous result. These magnificent creatures go too well over 40lb in The Main Lake but are cute fish so take a bit of catching.

Finally, Julian Morphew smashed his P.B. in style when he landed a fish any self-respecting carp angler wants in their album, The Mommon. Only days ago Julian landed the magnificent specimen at 47lb from The Lodge and was blown away with its incredible size. It’s been great to see the progress this fish has made over the years.

Steve and Elliot Bertram have been Fryerning syndicate members for years and in this time caught plenty of carp, with an impressive list to their names.

Having done their apprenticeships on The Valley Lakes, they are now reaping the rewards of The Main Lake as well,  see-sawing between the two lakes as and when the mood suits.

At the start of the month, the pair enjoyed a carp packed session on The Main Lake, landing five carp between them up to 40lb 15oz. The pair really work hard at their fishing and it is great to see them paid off with results like these!

The month of April also saw one of the finest braces of carp The UK has ever seen when Suffolk based gold miner Simon Lincoln landed both Gurm and The Nunn in the same session.

Gurm went a hefty 53lb 14oz whilst The Nunn was just ounces under 48lb giving him a combined weight of nearly 102lb. Mind blowing stuff, I think you’ll agree.

What a brace, The Nunn 47lb 14oz

Another Simon doing the business at Fryerning this month was prolific hauler, Simon Davey. April saw Simon land six from The Main Lake including 3 x 30’s, one of which was an unknown, unnamed mirror.

Other carp of note to come out of The Main this month are a 3 carp haul by Jim Buffoni’s which included XL Pecs at 43LB, Ian Holman with Whinger at 40lb 11oz,  and Lincoln Slater with a 41lb mirror.

With so many amazing carp coming out at Fryerning this month, it’s impossible to mention them all, so to see more have a quick look at the Main Lake Catch Reports.

Not to be outshone by The Main Lake, both The Valley and The Car Park Lake have also been in fine fettle. The Valley alone has produced four P.B.s for our members this month.

Kicking off April was Connor Ward who had an awesome looking 27lb 8oz P.B. Linear from the slab on his favourite Mainline baits.

York Stevens was another to smash his P.B. on The Valley Lake when he landed his first UK 30. In a memorable session shared with his good mate Kane, York managed a 30lb 8oz common, and a stunning 24lb scale mirror, whilst Kane got in on the act with a common of just over 20lb.

Jake Bryan also got among The Valley Lake 30’s, landing a new P.B. 32lb 4oz mirror,  astonishingly good looking, I’m sure you’ll agree! Jake also had an 18lb mirror whilst his Dad landed his first ever Cat.

Just look at this, Jake Bryans new P.B. at 32lb 4oz

Steve Waple also returned from a session with a beaming smile having landed his new P.B. with a super scaley Mirror of nearly 25lb and looking at this who can blame him?

Another to smash his P.B. was Josh Hefford when he landed a belting 26lb 13oz mirror, whilst Rick Neighbour weighed in with a cracking 32lb one.

Once again far too many fish to mention so to feast your eyes on even more carp click on The Valley Lakes Catch reports.

Something that really cheers myself, and certainly the guys down here, up is seeing new blood entering the sport and youngsters enjoying quality time with their Dads.

Over the Easter holidays at Fryerning, we saw a few examples of this, hopefully, we start seeing a bit more of it in the future.

With stacks of carp, stunning surroundings, top class toilets and showers, and a safe and secure environment The Car Park Lake is the perfect place to fish together with total peace of mind.

Nic and Luca Payne certainly enjoyed plenty of rod bending action these holidays landing a fine array of mirrors, commons and a couple of tench in some belting day sessions on The Car Park.

Luca Payne has been doing the business on The Car Park Lake

Mark and Fin Richardson have been Fryerning members for years now and have seen many changes over time with the place moving on to another level every season.

In their first trip in 6 months the duo swapped between the Car Park and The Valley landing some incredible carp along the way.

Fin Richardson has been doing battle with some lovely carp

Just weeks before landing his new P.B. from The Valley, Jake Bryan had a confidence boosting 24 hours on The Car Park, landing 12 carp to 17lb. It just shows what a bit of confidence can do! Well done Jake!

Jake Bryan had a hectic 24 hours on The Car Park Lake

It’s noticeable just how much weight the carp are packing on in The Car Park, one clear example of this is the superb 22lb common Ben Edkins had.

With all these hungry fish the guys have really upped the amount of pellets being fed, putting a dent in the couple of tonnes they received a few weeks back. These are available for sale at cost price, ask for details!

The freezers are also packed full of Mainline freezer bait, so if you’re after some give us a shout!

Those who have been down will have noticed we are using The fishery, slings, nets and mats now. remember please put them back as you found them and in the same place you got them from, treating them with the utmost care and respect. Once finished with put them back clean, dry and tidy!

Once again I must mention just how well the place is looking, the transformation in a couple of weeks is incredible with the place looking immaculate. The guys have been hard at it cutting grass, strimming, landscaping and watering!

That’s about it for now, see you for Episode 6 which is bound to be another classic!
