Fryerning XL Essex Big Carp Syndicate Bi-Monthly Blog May/June Episode 6
We're are back again for Episode 6 of The Fryerning XL Carp monthly blog with Adam Penning and we have crammed the last two months captures into one action-packed episode. Fryerning XL Carp: One of the best carp syndicate places available.
As predicted in Episode 5, the carp began to spawn hard two weeks into May and the management took the decision to shut the lakes and let the carp spawn undisturbed and free from angling pressure.
Prior to this break some top quality sport was on offer, with Mitch Attwood certainly opening Mays account with a bang. Mitch landed four Carp in the first two days of the month including The Nunn at 47lb 10oz, The Emperor at 43lb 8oz, a stunning 29lb 14oz Linear and a 22lb common.

Another angler to cash in on its rich form was Roy Prodger who landed four carp, the largest being Pretty One at 40lb 8oz.
This was a top result for Roy and The fishery, as the its was Pretty One’s first time over 40lb having been so close to that mark for so long. Incredibly this now brings the total of carp 40lb and over to a mind blowing 22 on the complex at the rite time of year!

Other A-Team carp fell to the rods of Steve Falco who had a 39lb 15oz Mirror and Neil ‘I’ve ad em all’ Messenger who had 4 scale at bang on 40lb.
Steve Falco’s been doing the business again!

The fishing on The Valley was also red hot , with countless P.B.s smashed as its stocks went on a feeding frenzy. In fact the first four entries in the catch report book shows four new P.B’s for three different members. Amazing stuff.
One member Darrel Ray certainly won’t forget his debut session in a hurry, smashing his P.B. twice with fish of 29lb 1oz and 31lb 4oz. Darrel rounded the session off with a 20lb koi.
Darrel Ray with his new P.B., caught in an incredible session!
Ian Mitchell also smashed his P.B. twice landing his first ever twenty and then landing his first thirty with a cracking mirror of 31lb 12oz .
Ian Mitchell has been on top form recently, smashing his P.B. Twice!!!
With the lakes closed for a couple of weeks, the carp were left in peace to do their stuff and then recover. During this time the team fed all the lakes aggressively, to get the carp back in top condition as quickly as possible. Great fishery management!
Loads of these have been fed in all the lakes!
The excitement was clear to see on open day for the few who turned up, none more so than Adam himself who landed several carp up to 27lb in 18 hours.
Roy Prodger also got down first thing and started where he left off a few weeks earlier with three carp up to 29lb….. great angling!
Roy Prodger has been getting among them again!
The Main Lakes big girl, Gurm also made an appearance for Ian Holman who landed her on his birthday weekend at a spawned out but still massive 48lb 6oz. It’s still amazing to think this fish is at its smallest at over 48lb!!!
A great birthday gift, Gurm for Ian Holman!
It’s great to see that the fish on all three lakes have dumped the spawn successfully, the fish certainly benefit massively from this and will soon packing the pounds back on and becoming even bigger later on as a result.
Those who’ve watched previous episodes of the blogs can’t fail to have noticed the name Simon Davey. Once again Simon features again this month with some truly epic sessions. Just check this out!!!
His first session saw him land a monstrous 20 carp from The Main Lake which included six of The A-Team, 2×40’s, 5×30’s and 6x20s.
These included:
Simon Davey with The Nunn 41lb
The Netted fish 40lb
Berties Linear 36lb
Riddler 36lb
One capture that did shock Simon in between hauling out all those carp out was the 130lb+ Cat fish he was asked to help weigh and photo. Nick Royce was the bloke who had the massive specimen which broke the lake record for sure having bottomed out 120lb scales with ease. We have another similar sized cat on the complex which last came out at 128lb so there’s a couple of really big surprises ready to pull your arms off.
Nick Royce with that massive cat!
Simons second trip saw him get among the fish yet again, landing a further 12 carp including 2×40’s , 4×30’s and 4×20’s. It’s certainly not a month he’ll forget in a hurry!
Simon back at it again!
Regulars Steve and Elliot Bertram also got in on the action, landing a couple of fish they dearly wanted. Dad, Steve had The Gambler at 34lb along with a couple of 20’s, whilst Elliot had his target fish, The Gurm at a very honest weight of 49lb 14oz.

Elliot has worked really hard for this fish waiting nearly 3 and a half years for it and it was great to see him rewarded for this effort. A couple of 20lb commons capped off a great session for Elliot.

On common theme on all these captures is the amount of bait these guys are feeding. Simon, Steve and Elliot certainly aren’t shy of putting it in and their regular feeding really pays dividends.
Good quality bait and lots of it has been key recently!
Adam McGinnis also managed to land his target fish and a fish everyone wants when he slipped the net under The Mommon at 40lb 2oz. Adam also had The Emperor at 42lb 6oz, a truly spectacular brace of carp in anyone’s book!

The rarely caught Lukes Common also made an appearance for Tommy flower at 36lb 3oz. Tommy had this magnificent fish in a short session after work, having found a group of fish …a great bit of angling!

TV producer Ryan Woodland was another member who had a memorable session courtesy of the Main Lakes A-Team carp. Ryan had a double take 12 at night which saw him with a brace everyone wants in their album, Charlie at 35lb and The Zip Linear 36lb 3oz.

As always there are just far too many fish to mention so check out The Catch Report Page to see some of the other magnificent carp to have come out of The Main Lake in May and June.
Back on The Valley Lake, it was business as usual with Darrel Ray landing a stunning 28lb mirror, whilst Ben Sealey landed a 24lb common and a 40lb cat on opening day.

These fish were followed by a 30lb 2oz common for Chris Marchant, a 32lb 3oz P.B. common for Ben Edkins and another P.B. 33lb 8oz mirror for Kane Sutton.

Another to smash his P.B. on The Valley was young Fin Richardson who had a belting 26lb 8oz common. Fin and Dad Mark have been members at Fryerning for a long time now and it’s great to see them really progress as anglers catching more carp year on year.
Man of the month, Fin with his new P.B. A 26lb 8oz common.
The Car Park Lake has been in terrific form as always with anglers taking some huge hits of fish on a variety of methods, from boilies on the bottom to zigs and surface fishing anglers have been having some real rod bending action.
Ron Scott has been catching plenty on The Car Park recently
Main Lake member David Wilson was one such angler who took full advantage of this gem of a water. David spent a few hectic hours on ‘The Car Park’ landing 14 carp up to 23lb before running out of bait!
David Wilson had some quality carp from The Car Park
It’s very noticeable just how big the fish are getting in here now, with several fish over 20lb caught post spawning recently. They’ve certainly been feasting on all them pellets the guys have been chucking in that’s for sure!
Once again we have far too many carp to mention that’s come out of the Car Park and Valley Lakes, so check out The Catch Reports Page and Valley Lakes Galleries for some of the rest!
It’s amazing just how much everything has come on over the last few months, the place as always looks immaculate and has never looked so good. In particular the Car Park Lake really has matured in to a place of beauty surrounded by trees laden with fruit and dense bamboo bushes.
The countless hours the guys have been putting in to keep the fishery in such spectacular condition is incredible, even during the close season break they have been at it!
Finally a big thanks must go to Phil Randall who many of you will know! who came down during the shut period and gave the toilet and shower block a big spruce up cleaning and painting the whole lot and what a job he’s done!
