Out On The Bank with BERTIE
It’s Out On The Bank feature time again and this week I caught up with our longest serving member Bert.
Bert has been a member for 17 years and is the current complex record holder having recently caught the Gurm at 54lb 8oz.
Bert has become a great friend to the team and has helped out with many of the projects we’ve worked on over the years including helping to build the entrance gate to the fishery.
Bert with the Dalmation
Bert was down again this week pitting his wits against the Main Lake residents so I took the chance to catch up with him and ask him about his time at Fryerning.
Q: What are the best things about fishing at Fryerning?
A: I’ve fish the place for years, but I still get a feeling of excitement every time I arrive. It’s a beautiful place to spend some time, the fish are amazing and the members are a really great bunch of people.

Q: What is your most memorable capture?
A: Undoubtedly it would have to be my capture of the Gurm at 54lb 8oz. I’d actually caught her before at 27lb!

Q: If you had to choose one swim on the Main Lake which one would it be and why?
A: The Box would be my favourite spot, I’ve caught plenty of fish from there and I enjoy the walk to the swim too!
