OUT ON THE BANK with JAMES DALTON
It’s Out on the Bank feature time again and this week I caught up with long time Main Lake member and all round nice guy James Dalton.
James has been a member at Fryerning for 6 years and although only getting on the bank a handful of times a year has caught more than his fair share of the Main Lake’s biggies.
James is known for his big baiting and won’t think twice about putting in 30 kilos of bait in a session! The tactic has certainly paid dividends over the years with James having caught the Mommon, the Nunn and XL Pecs among others.

James is down fishing the lake this week, so I pulled up one of his numerous huge bait buckets and took the opportunity to ask him about his fishing at Fryerning.
Q: What are the best things about fishing at Fryerning?
A: It’s such a wonderfully run fishery and the surroundings are stunning it’s a truly great place to fish.
Q: What is your most memorable capture?
A: Undoubtedly my most memorable capture would have to be when I landed the Mommon in February 2011. It was absolutely freezing and the fish was my first 40. Incredible stuff!

Q: If you had to choose one swim on the Main Lake which one would it be and why?
A: The left hand point would be my first choice. I’ve caught most of my big fish from this swim. It offers you a lot of water to fish and is also rather a good swim for socializing from!

Q: What fish would you like to catch the most?
A: It would have to be the Netted Fish. It’s an awesome looking fish and one of the biggest leathers in the UK.
Thank you to James for taking the time to have a chat with me.
James is taking a year out from his fishing due to a new addition to the Dalton clan. He asked me to take this opportunity to thank Chris and Charlie for 6 wonderful years fishing.
James concluded by saying he will be back. I look forward to seeing you on the bank again soon James.
